What is Freshman Week?

To welcome new students, the TU Ilmenau holds an orientation week every October. This week includes numerous cultural and recreational events for you, collectively known as “ErstiWoche.” These events are designed to help you get to know the city, your fellow students, and, of course, the university and its campus. Fun and enjoyment are guaranteed!

We haven’t forgotten about our master’s students, of course: Master’s Orientation Days are offered specifically for you. Since you’ve all already completed a degree program, an intensive orientation program is likely no longer necessary for most of you. However, anyone who still doesn’t want to miss out on the fun of ErstiWoche is, of course, welcome to participate in all ErstiWoche events.

Who organizes Freshman Week?

The Freshman Week is planned and organized by students for students. We call ourselves the ErstiWoche Organizing Committee (EWO for short) and are a department of the Student Council at TU Ilmenau (StuRa for short). All EWO members are always easy to spot during ErstiWoche thanks to their orange ORGA T-shirts.
